To the Namib Desert and the photogenic Dead Vale. This is where the red sands, blown from the east, settle on the heavier white sands, blown from the west; creating a unique place to experience.
It's actually not a very big site, so you end up taking much the same photos as the travel books. One thing to look out for is that my photos have much more grass in the sand. Rainfall here has been significantly higher than usual for a decade now.
Then the final long drive south, to the Cape of Good Hope. And, six months after starting in the cold north of Helsinki, South ends here, with a quick dip in the (almost as cold) Atlantic Ocean.
